It translates in Spanish to: fat virgin… Columbus seems to become more and more of a scamp with each passing year.
The décor reflects an island sensibility and lends a homelike feel to the rooms, suites and villas. Light wood and teak furniture, stone walls and natural colored fabrics accented by island colors are used throughout the resort.
Bathrooms with colorful ceramic tile motifs include double vanities and rain showers; some have soaking tubs and half of the rooms are outfitted with outdoor garden showers. Amenities include waffle-weave robes, slippers, lemongrass/grapefruit-scented Rosewood signature soaps and lotions, a complimentary bottle of island rum, bottled water and soft drinks and wi-fi access.
Bose stereo/CD players, telephone with voicemail capabilities, in-room safes, refrigerators, hair dryers and irons and ironing boards are included.
There are no TVs in the rooms, but there is one in the recreation room near the resort’s main pavilion. A mini-version of the NY Times is distributed each morning. Snow shoes and down parkas are provided free of charge during the frigid winter months. Kidding. Kidding!
