The first floor of the hotel features a small section of bricks that symbolize the 12th century Romanesque wall that once fortified Brussels. There is also an interior waterway, another symbol of the ancient city, parts of which were once swampland; today koi swim lazily in the stream surrounding Bar Dessiné.
