Ian Schrager, the style-setter whose collaborations with Philippe Starck launched a thousand imitative, "hip" boutique hotels, has pulled a 180 to create the arty, rococo (and yes, very expensive) Gramercy Park hotel, with input and inspiration from the art world's Julian Schnabel.
In addition to the hotel's stage-set interiors, guests receive a temporary key to Gramercy Park, the only private greensward in New York City and a jewel-like spot to enjoy some calm moments together in the midst of Manhattan madness.
An even more private hotel roof garden, custom fragrances, bathroom amenities recommended by the Allure magazine staff, and gourmet minibar treats all add to the magic and mystique of this romantic new hotel.
