THE WINNING DESTINATION WAS ANNOUNCED...
More than 213,000 votes were cast to select a venue for Nikki Hensley & Roger "Buddy" Butler's destination wedding. While the bride and groom (in the 101st Airborne Division they call him "Corporal Hollywood") awaited the audience's decision, a miniature steamer trunk was wheeled out.
The Choices...
- Le Château Frontenac -- French-accented elegance in Quebec City, Canada
- Lake Placid Lodge -- a lakeside setting in upstate New York
- Biltmore Estate -- in North Carolina, the largest private home in America
- Cap Juluca -- award-winning resort Anguilla in the Caribbean
Katie Couric opened the trunk to reveal that Cap Juluca in the Caribbean had been selected as the destination wedding locale for the couple.
WEDDING BAND CHOICES WERE PRESENTED...
The NBC Today Show audience voted on which wedding bands Nikki and Buddy would exchange at their destination wedding. These were the choices:
- Penny Preville's wide diamond band in 18k white-gold with a floral motif for her; a band engraved at the top and bottom edges for him
- Fred Leighton's Art-deco diamond design set in platinum for her; simple brushed platinum for him
- Neil Lane's classic narrow diamond-pavé band for her and classic milgrain style for him
- Tiffany's diamond-and-sapphire stackable band in 18k yellow gold for her and a rounded Lucida band for him

THE WINNING COUPLE WAS ANNOUNCED...
To the strains of the O'Jays' "Love Train," Katie Couric chatted with the wedding hopefuls and announced that more than 200,000 votes had been cast. As your Guide predicted last week, Kentucky's Nikki Hensley & Roger "Buddy" Butler -- the mother of a five-year-old girl and the Marine who toured in Iraq -- received the most votes to become the 2004 Today Throws a Wedding couple.

FOUR COUPLES WERE INTRODUCED ON THE NBC TODAY SHOW
On September 1, 2004 the Today Show introduced four couples hoping to win a destination wedding in November.
Viewers were invited to vote for one of the following couples:
1) Rachel Henn, 27 & John Davis, 31
2) Danielle Demaree, 28 & William Peppler, 30
3) Nicole Woods, 29 & Frank Beckton, 34
4) Nikki Hensley, 29 & Roger Butler, 27 (named the winners on the following week).
