With the introduction of Sandals' destination wedding gowns, brides are looking prettier and more comfortable than ever.

~ WEEK 5 OF TODAY THROWS A DESTINATION WEDDING ~

BRIDESMAIDS' & FLOWER GIRL DRESSES WERE PRESENTED

Featured Designers

For a casually elegant beach destination wedding, bridesmaids will be most comfortable in pretty, lightweight, short dresses, according to Today Show Style Editor Judy Gordon. It is customary for the bridesmaids to pay for their own dresses.

Style Editor Gordon pointed out these trends:

  • Clean, simple lines
  • 70s design accents, such as halter tops, ruching, slits up the front
  • Greens and corals are hot colors for outdoor weddings
  • Bare shoulders and sashes are popular

The Today Show audience had to choose from the following gowns for Nikki's three bridesmaids to wear at her destination wedding. They are priced in the $180-$400 range.

    • #1 - J. Crew Coral-hued gown with empire waist
    • #2 - Vera Wang Pale lavender strapless A-line gown with inverted-pleat bodice
    • #3 - Kathlin Argiro Horizontal ribbon-striped strapless A-line dress with satin ribbon tie belt
    • #4 - Thread Layered organza gown in three shades of aqua.

Each bridesmaid's gown was paired with a matching flower girl dress for Addison, the bride's five-year-old daughter, to wear.

A DESTINATION WEDDING GOWN WAS CHOSEN
    Winning Designer: Monique Lhuillier

More than 300,000 Today Show audience members (42%) chose Monique Lhuillier's elegant V-neck, goddess-style couture gown made of silk chiffon and with a graceful handkerchief hem for Nikki to wear at her destination wedding.

This year's hot wedding gown designer, Monique Lhuillier (pronounced loo-lee-yay) has created wedding dresses for Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Angela Jolie, Natalie Imbruglia, Carmen Electra, and Trista Rehn. Lhuillier also designs celebrity gowns for red-carpet occasions.

    WEDDING BANDS WERE SELECTED...

This week, the bling's the thing -- and the Today Show audience selected the wedding bands Nikki and Buddy will exchange at their destination wedding. Under the scrutiny of the "confession cam," the couple agreed that Neil Lane's narrow diamond-pavé band for her and classic milgrain style for him were their top choice. Happily for them, when Katie Couric opened a coconut to reveal the voters' choice, it was the same as the couple's.

    WEDDING GOWNS WERE MODELED...
A destination wedding dress should be lightweight, comfortable, elegant, and packable (you don't want to have to buy a plane seat for your dress!) The Today Show audience had to choose one of these gowns for Nikki:

    • #1 - Lazaro Sexy, ivory silk chiffon gown with halter top and keyhole neckline. Light beading and a small sweep train.
    • #2 - Monique Lhuillier V-neck, goddess-style couture gown made of silk chiffon and with a graceful handkerchief hem.
    • #3 - Amy Michaelson This very pretty strapless dress has a heart-shaped neckline, flowing A-line skirt, and a sweet row of buttons beneath a bow on the back.
    • #4 - Angel Sanchez From the eveningwear designer's bridal line, this style features spaghetti straps, a scoop neck, and trendy soft ruffles.
