If quiet time alone is in order, there are gardens, patios, and pools where that can be achieved. If fun for two is on the agenda, you can be as happy as kids at sleepaway camp here.
For married couples with children, there is probably no better resort that can satisfy the needs of a 12-year-old just as well as a couple of not-so-newlyweds with romance on their minds. Between The Oasis, Kids Camps, and shuttles to the mall, you can have your adult alone time while the kids are having a blast. Even the spa and the salon have special treatments for kids and teens.
Pointe South Mountain Resort is a resort for business people, families, and couples. If you don't want to be around children at all, it will be a challenge here to avoid them. The adult pools satisfied my need to be far from splashing or whining.
With the resort at full capacity, The Oasis did not seem crowded to me, and there are places to strike a quiet, recumbent pose, in sun or in shade. If I can't have my own Zuni River with a tube-built-for-two in my private backyard, the Pointe's lazy river is the next best thing.
Generally you'll find this Phoenix resort more reasonably priced than some of its Scottsdale counterparts. Best deals are available from May through September. But if you aren't familiar with summer desert temperatures, make sure you are prepared for how hot it gets here.
