What to Expect at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa debuted a few short years ago and has been already been recognized for its value, dining, and location by winning the AAA 4-Diamond award.
Guest Rooms at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: Each of the 735 guestrooms, 63 suites, and 32 casita units has Westin's appropriately named Heavenly Bed. Rooms offer views of the expansive (27-hole) golf course or cactus garden, bougainvillea-lined walkways, and soothing fountains. Spacious bathrooms include granite sinks and vanity mirrors. Romantic villa units include a living room with an entertainment center, and the master bedroom has a whirlpool tub and mountain or desert garden views.
Dining at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: Deseo, the resort's signature restaurant, features Latin-influenced dishes. It has won raves for its full exhibition kitchen and ceviche bar. Try the luscious adobo-seared tuna with spinach and quinoa, roasted with salsa rosa and asparagus gratin, or Kobe meatballs infused with mushrooms and served with New York strip steak. For dessert savor traditional churros, cinnamon-dusted “doughnuts” served with dulce de leche and chocolate dipping sauce.
Weddings at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: Personalized weddings include a choice of elegant indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception venues, menu variety, butler-served hors d’oeuvres, customized wedding cake, custom-printed menus, and free accommodation for the bride and groom with champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries in their room. A changing room for the bridal party is also included.
Packages at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: Seasonal packages dedicated to romance, golf, and spa themes are available. For current offers, check the hotel's site.
Spa at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa: Agave Spa is named for a local plant known for its sweetening properties. Its atypical spa treatments in a soothing environment include Rollersage, combining hot stones and massage; Tui’Na, an ancient Chinese massage/health modality, perfect for sore muscles; and the Ice Cream Pedicure. It features a scoop-shaped massage scrub scented with cranberry, lavender, or peppermint and includes a foot massage/masque with scents of chocolate, caramel, or marshmallow.
What Could Be Improved at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa? : It would be wonderful if all guests adhered to the “No Cell Phone Use” and “No Smoking” signs posted poolside by the spa. Relaxing after a massage is difficult when medical conventioneers conduct lengthy conversations while smoking. But this is more a reflection of manners than resort policy. Perhaps enforcement could be better controlled. Note: Summer temperatures in this part of the country can get uncomfortably hot.
