The island of Antigua is relatively small, but there is not much to see or do in walking distance from the resort. Staff at Curtain Bluff can arrange for transportation to and from the resort.

St. John's, the capital, has a number of places to shop for local crafts and other items, but most close at 5 pm. It is also where the airport is located and takes about 30-45 minutes to travel to by car.

From St. John's, couples can catch a ferry to the neighboring island of Barbuda, a three-hour trip by boat. On the mostly uninhabited island, two can visit the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, see the pink and white sand beaches, and swim among shipwrecks and beautiful reefs. There are also short flights that fly to Barbuda twice daily.

Although Curtain Bluff has a putting green, if you’re looking for a day of golf, there is a 18-hole course ten to fifteen minutes away at Jolly Harbor, which also has a casino. There is also an 18-hole course at Cedar Valley .

The casino is nice if small and offers slot machines and table games common in Caribbean casinos. If you do visit the casino at Jolly Harbor, avoid the crooked “Rainbow Game,” a lotto-like game that players need a lot more than luck to win.

Other day trips can be arranged to visit historic areas of the island, such as Nelson’s Dockyard, Shirley Heights, Red Cliffe Quay, and Betty’s Hope. Tours can be arranged at the hotel to see any or all.
