Pennsylvania Dutch Country

By , About.com Guide

The Amish and Mennonite residents of Pennsylvania Dutch Country continue to maintain their strict, religious, and community-based ways while modern life surrounds them. Many make their living farming and with handicrafts.

Visitors to the the Amish Country enjoy scenic drives along narrow country roads and over covered bridges. And it's not uncommon to share the road with Amish transporting themselves via horse and buggy.

Food here is inexpensive, plentiful, tasty, and prepared with care. And whether you collect antiques, quilts, hex signs, or just memories, you'll find a trip to the easy-going Pennsylvania Dutch Country restful and relaxing.
