The marriage chamber at Sofitel the Grand Amsterdam witnesses up to three weddings a day. In order to use it, couples must commit to holding a wedding event at the hotel.

The property can cater anything from a small reception for 25 with cake and champagne to a traditional afternoon tea, to lunch, dinner, or an evening party in one of the hotel’s many banquet rooms.

We witnessed a bride, groom, and their wedding party depart from their event into a waiting canal boat, which added a new dimension to traveling in style.

Note: Marriages between same sex couples are permitted in the Netherlands. However, only a couple with at least one member who is a legal citizen of the country can be officially married here. Other couples may be able to stage symbolic weddings here.
