Fly Easy Tip #1: When booking, opt for the first flight of day if it makes sense with your plans; it's less likely to be delayed than others.

Fly Easy Tip #2: If the flight is crowded, you may be more comfortable booking two aisle seats across from each other instead of two in the same row.

Fly Easy Tip #3: Get to the airport early and remember to bring ID. Security takes longer than ever now. Better to have time to kill than worry you're going to miss a flight.

Fly Easy Tip #4: Use e-tickets and check-in and get your boarding pass online whenever possible.

Fly Easy Tip #5: If it’s a short trip, pack everything you need in one carry-on suitcase that fits in the overheard compartment.

Fly Easy Tip #6: Bring your own entertainment — an iPod, handheld game, or great book.

Fly Easy Tip #7: Pack something to eat. Airlines rarely serve meals in coach anymore, and airport food is expensive.

Fly Easy Tip #8: Dress in layers. Airports tend to be overheated in winter and not cool enough in summer.

Fly Easy Tip #9: Wear slip-on shoes and empty your pockets of change and all metal objects before you reach the head of the security line.

Fly Easy Tip #10: Even if things go wrong, be patient when dealing with airport personnel. They really are there to help you.
