One of the delightful things about a ship as large as the Norwegian Sky (capacity 2002) is that there are so many things to do at sea. For those who don't think perspiration is a sign of illness that requires immediate medical attention, there is a jogging track, spa, and fitness center. At least that's what I overheard.

While the library, Internet cafe, and shops all briefly held me in their thrall, I found the Monte Carlo casino to be the place I returned to again and again. There we were introduced to Caribbean Stud poker, an easy-to-play game that had us communing with fellow players we came to identify as The Woman Who Buried Three Husbands and Was Working on Her Next, The Man Who Calls His Sister "Daughter of Darkness," and The Lady with the Really Big Arms.

From time to time at night we considered relinquishing our seats in the casino to venture into the showroom and see a production. Being from New York, where everything's a production, we couldn't bear the thought. So if you go, you will simply have to judge the entertainment quality for yourself.

We did steal away from the tables to engage in a round of the "Not-So-Newlywed Game." And if my darling only hadn't lied about biting his toenails to get a laugh, we would have stood a better chance at winning.

Another night, we showed up for the complimentary "Vow Renewal at Sea," billed as an interdenominational event. (It wasn't my denomination, but the devout gentleman reading from the Bible meant well.) Far away from home and friends, in the company of the man I adore, I held his arm tightly and pledged my eternal love to him once more. The sea air does that to you.
