According to a recent survey taken by YPBR, the following statistical facts were revealed about those who travel for leisure:
70% of leisure travelers have Internet access from a home desktop computer.
65% of leisure travelers planning to take an overnight trip next year, plan to do so by plane.
64% of leisure travelers have taken 1+ trips with a spouse/adult and no children in the past year.
64% of leisure travelers are willing to take their children out of school for a travel vacation.
56% of leisure travelers disregard their diet while on vacation.
55% of leisure travelers feel that they don't have enough vacation time.
55% of leisure travelers agree that hotel ratings are important when making a travel reservation.
53% of leisure travelers went online in the past 12 months to obtain travel information/prices.
52% of leisure travelers feel more romantic on vacation.
49% of leisure travelers are interested in visiting NYC during the next two years.
48% of leisure travelers took 1+ trips to visit friends/family in the past year.
46% of leisure travelers familiar with timesharing/vacation ownership, consider themselves knowledgeable about such concepts.
43% of leisure travelers find learning a new skill/activity desirable when on a pleasure trip.
43% of leisure travelers find shopping desirable when traveling for pleasure.
40% of leisure travelers are interested in visiting Florida in the next two years.
Of leisure travelers who made reservations on-line AND via travel agent, 39% find the Internet easier and faster.
36% of leisure travelers are planning more overnight trips in the next 12 months than they took in the last 12 months.
34% of leisure travelers are members of at least one frequent-flyer program.
33% of leisure travelers have taken a cruise in their lifetime.
32% of leisure travelers actually made travel reservations on-line during the past 12 months.
