SNOWBOARDING SITE:
What is it people love about your sport? Being in the mountains and learning something new.
Level of difficulty for beginners (1=low > 10=high):
It's a 7+ for those first few days. After that, it is smooth sailing!
Essential equipment a beginner must buy/can't rent:
You can pretty much rent everything you need, including outerwear. Some essentials to bring along from home are long underwear, turtlenecks, and warm socks.
What should every first-timer know? It is well worth it to sign up for a lesson.
What separates the amateurs from the pros? Pro snowboarders perform difficult tricks while doing very large jumps. Amateurs can have fun making tracks through the powder and carving turns down a groomed run.
In your personal opinion, where's the best resort or destination to practice the activity? For a honeymoon, I'd recommend a resort with a "ski village" setting, where the night life can be just as romantic as the time spent together on the slopes. Top picks are Whistler/Blackcomb, BC; Park City, UT; Sun Valley, ID; Jackson Hole, WY; Telluride, CO; and Aspen Mountain, CO.
Where can a beginner find additional information? Snowboarding from About.com
Anything you'd like to add? Snowboarding is great fun for all ages!
