To make sure you're "honeymoon compatible,"
print out 2 copies of this simple questionnaire...and take it
separately. Then compare answers. You'll find no right or wrong
ones, just help in defining your idea of the perfect honeymoon
-- which may not be the same as his or hers. Compare notes after
you finish, and be prepared to negotiate as you enter the planning
stage.
1. When you you want to take the honeymoon?
Right
after the wedding.
When
we have the time.
When
we have the money.
Cut
to the chase: We're taking it before the wedding.
No honeymoon.
2. Pick one:
We're
going to need a travel agent to help us.
We can
handle the planning ourselves (who's in charge?).
3. What's the total you've budgeted for the honeymoon?
Under
$500
$500-1,000
$1,000-$2,500

the USA.

7. Given my choice, I'd rather:
Camp
out/stay in hostels.
Stay
with family/friends.
Find
motels along the way.

a room in a chain hotel or rent a condo.

9. What's your preference?
I like
shopping on vacation.
I hate
shopping on vacation.
10. Does company (kids, friends, parents, pets, officers of
the law, etc.) belong on a honeymoon?
It's
okay with me.
It's
not okay.
11. Most of the time on our honeymoon, we'll be eating from:
McDonald's
and other fast-food franchises.
Supermarkets:
We'll make stuff ourselves.
Inexpensive
local restaurants.
Fine
local restaurants.
Hotel
restaurant/room service.
12. At night, I expect to:
Go out
dancing.
Listen
to live music.
Catch
up on the local culture.
See
movies.
Are
you kidding? It's my honeymoon!
Now, compare questionnaires. If you have more than half of the
same answers, you're honeymoon compatible -- and the rest is
just a matter of working out the details. If not, let the compromises
begin.
If it turns
out that you have to give up some things you'd hoped for, keep
in mind that the trip is bound to be fun with the one you love.
