Volcanoes, Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park is known as "the restless land" for the many eruptions that created it. Today all the volcanoes are very much alive. Mt. Ngauruhoe is the most active volcano in the park, last erupting in 1975. The National Park was established in 1887, the fourth national park in the world after Yellowstone in the USA, the Royal in Australia, and Banff in Canada.
