Q: How far in advance should couples plan a honeymoon?
A: About six months. At least, we recommend that much advance planning. That way, couples have plenty of time to research destinations, cost, and so forth. U.S. trips can take a bit less time.
Q: What's most important to the groom when it comes to a honeymoon? What's most important to the bride?
A: I think that what's important to both parties is a sense of shared adventure and the feeling that they are exploring new terrain together. There's also the sense, no matter how dated it may seem, of leaving an old life behind (even if they've been living together for years!) and embarking on a new life together. That's part of the reason, I think, that adventure travel is such a huge draw for honeymooners these days.
Q: Can you offer packing advice to honeymooners?
A: It depends on the trip, really, but we always recommend some "honeymoon extras": lingerie (both his and hers), sexy-smelling lotions and oils for those private massages, games for two, sexy surprise gifts and so on. Portable aromatherapy candles always add a nice, personal touch to a hotel room, as do incense sticks and oils (just dribble on the light bulb). Obviously, you're going to need some clothes, too (maybe?). Oh yeah, and a toothbrush.
