Each guest room at Vintage Park is named after a specific regional winery, with the name of it hand-lettered over the doorway. In the afternoons, guests are invited to partake of a Washington wine-tasting in Hotel Vintage Park's intimate lobby, which features a fireplace and is adorned with antiques, leather seating, and tapestries.
Seductive Rooms
Guest rooms at Hotel Vintage Park are among the prettiest and most stylish I've seen. Decorated in rich shades of gold, royal blue, and green, the room creates a fantasy backdrop.
Layered tapestries frame the romantic king-size bed, which features a down comforter beneath the bedcover. King-size down pillows in velvet shams add a seductive feel. And in the living area, playful custom furniture and cherry wood armoires grace the Vintage Park guest room. We do wish the space featured a more expansive bathroom, with a magnifying makeup mirror and Jacuzzi tub for two. And we would have been a bit more comfortable with an in-room safe and chain lock to augment the door bolt.
A Romantic Setting
If your visit is intended for romance, consider taking advantage of Hotel Vintage Park's "Body & Soul" package. In addition to accommodations for two and a bottle of wine, couples can spend a few hours relaxing at the Jeremy Todd Wellness Spa & Salon. Treatments include a mulled wine facial, balneotherapy, and a glass of pink champagne to toast your good fortune.
Love the One You're With
One of the things we appreciate most about Hotel Vintage Park, though, is its pet-friendly policy. Hotel Vintage Park welcomes canine guests with Hotel Vintage Park dog tags and serves grape-shaped dog treats during wine hour. For a fee, Hotel Vintage Park can also arrange dog-sitting services and a personalized doggie itinerary, designed to keep pooches happy while owners tour Seattle.
Waking Up Hungry
The very pretty Tulio restaurant is located on the corner next to Hotel Vintage Park, but I can't recommend it. After three attempts to get an omelette cooked properly one morning, I headed for the unpretentious Seneca Deli around the other corner. It sells yogurt, muffins, juices, and cooks breakfast to order for about a third of the price of Tulio. You can eat there, or bring the meal back to Hotel Vintage Park for yourself and your two- or four-legged significant other.
Downtown Location
Hotel Vintage Park is located on Fifth Avenue, near Seattle's retail and financial districts. The Nordstrom flagship department store is a seven-block walk away, and Nordstrom Rack, its discount outlet, is a few blocks beyond that.
There are several other hotels close to Hotel Vintage Park, and most claim to be within walking distance of downtown Seattle attractions such as Pike Place Market. Perhaps. But with Seattle's steep hills, they're not necessarily in walking back distance. Of course, with towering Mount Rainier looking over the city, one can understand why its citizens don't make a big deal out of streets as sloping as San Francisco's.
If you prefer to do your hiking in the country rather than the city, get the number of a local cab company to call before you leave your hotel and carry your cellphone with you to summon one when you're ready to head back.
You wouldn't want to miss wine hour at Hotel Vintage Park.
