- Waikiki Beach, Oahu - The Outrigger Reef on the Beach invites couples to fall in love all over again with a new complimentary vow renewal ceremony performed in a distinctly Hawaiian setting on the beach at Waikiki. The ceremony is held every Friday morning throughout the year as the sun rises over Diamond Head.
Entitled "Ho'i Hou Ke Aloha," which translates into "fall in love all over again," the free ceremony is performed by a practicing Hawaiian Kahu (priest), and is just another example of how the Outrigger Reef has earned its reputation as the most affordable romantic resort on Waikiki Beach.
After all, what could be more romantic than standing barefoot on the sands of Waikiki and renewing your wedding vows as palm trees sway, waves lap at the shore and the sun's rays slowly streak over the ridges of Diamond Head crater?
The non-denominational ceremony begins at 8 a.m. with a welcome by the Kahu, followed by a traditional Hawaiian chant. Couples are then led down a flower-covered path in the sand to the water's edge for the ceremony.
Once at the water's edge, couples are honored with a beautiful Hawaiian hula and serenaded to with Hawaiian song. Couples are then lightly sprinkled with ocean water, a Hawaiian tradition of blessing, and vows are recited. The ceremony concludes with a final gift of hula danced for the couples to the beautiful and haunting Hawaiian Wedding Song.
Presented to each couple at the conclusion of the ceremony is a beautiful vow renewal certificate encircled by a Hawaiian lei design that signifies a circle of love that has no beginning and no end. The Outrigger Reef welcomes couples to participate, whether they are newly married or celebrating an anniversary. Couples can keep it as intimate as a ceremony for two or as part of a complete family reunion with children, family and friends gathered around.
