PRESS RELEASE:

    WHAT’S OLD IS NEW AGAIN
Grenada’s Historic Morne Fendue Plantation House Adds Guest Rooms

St. George’s, Grenada, November 13, 2003 -- Located in St. Patrick, the most northerly parish in Grenada, the charming Morne Fendue Plantation House has welcomed visitors since 1974 but just recently added 13 new guest rooms so that visitors can now enjoy overnight accommodations at this glorious estate.

Each room can accommodate two guests comfortably with a generous queen-size bed and modern bathroom facilities, as well as access to the estate’s grand kitchen. But the highlight of each guest room is the extensive balcony that overlooks scenic Mt. St. Catherine’s (the highest point on the island) and the majestic sea and also offers excellent sunset views.

The picturesque misty mountains, lush vegetation and rolling hills and valleys are complimented by the beautiful poinsettias, flamboyant trees, bougainvilleas and palm trees that adorn the property. The new guest rooms are very affordable, with rates ranging from $40 to $60 per night.

Built in 1908 with river stones and a mortar of lime and molasses, Morne Fendue Plantation House is known for its outstanding West Indian buffet, which is served daily, except Sundays, on the veranda. Dishes include traditional Grenadian fare such as pepper pot, callaloo soup, pigeon peas and rice and christophene and plantain, with many of the items grown right on the grounds.

Located approximately one hour from the main tourist area in Grenada, Morne Fendue offers a convenient location to the island’s northern side attractions including Bathway Beach (a perfect spot for bathing and soaking up the sun), Levera Beach & National Park (for hiking, picnicking and sunbathing), the island’s first 18-hole golf course (set to open in early 2004), Carib’s Leap (historic site where the Carib Indians leapt to their deaths rather than surrender to the French in 1651) the Grenada Chocolate Factory, the Sulphurous Springs (mineral springs that are claimed to have healing powers) and Mount Rich, where Amerindian petroglyphs can be found.
