Serene to sizzling, the 700 Islands of the Bahamas present a diverse vacation experience, and each of the 20 populated islands has its own distinct character and charm. These are a few favorite spots for adventuresome honeymooners in and around the largest one, Grand Bahama Island.

1. Sun-bathers who clamor for the most scenic location in the Bahamas won't be disappointed at Gold Rock Beach.

2. Naturalists who seek the company of other friendly species can take the ferry from Port Lucaya to Sanctuary Bay's Dolphin Experience, where bottlenose dolphins frolic alongside humans.

3. At the nearby UNEXSO (Underwater Explorers Society) facility, would-be scuba divers can take the plunge after three hours' instruction.

4. For those who prefer discovering treasures on dry land, the International Bazaar contains a number dutyfree shops that sell imports from all over the world -including French perfumes, Colombian emeralds and Italian leathers.

5. East End Adventure leads trekkers along pristine beaches and into Lucayan National Park in a jeep. A visit to an inland blue hole -- the Bahamas' natural phenomenon that mimics a body of water but is simply sunshine on limestone -- is also part of the jaunt.

6. Tropical songbirds welcome visitors to Rand Memorial Nature Centre, home to flamingoes and other gaily colored birds. Tours are available.

7. Saturday's carnival-like West End Move invites guests to participate in island activities such as conch cracking and hair braiding and see demonstrations of the country's colorful Junkanoo festival.

8. Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island has everything from lagoons to a walk-through aquarium to the largest casino in the Bahamas.
