Adventures in South Australia
Saturday November 22, 2008
Baz Luhrmann's epic film Australia arrives in theaters, and you can sample the country here. Rustic and remote South Australia provides honeymoon couples and other romantics with the kind of adventure vacation that makes for lifetime memories. If your idea of a great getaway includes seeing seals bask in the sun on beaches, observing koalas munching on gum trees, swimming with dolphins who are free, and coming across kangaroos, this is the place for you.
Contributor Judy Koutsky recently went Down Under and came back with her report on the allure of South Australia.

Fantastic information! My fiancé and I are just now in the process of planning our wedding and honeymoon and have not yet settled on a destination. Your post really helped to provide good details for how we might set things up if we decide on Australia. We’re actually planning to get married in May or June of next year. Forgive my ignorance, but would this be a reasonable time of year to experience Australia at its best? Another slightly silly question – I’m quite interested in some of the aquatic spots you mentioned, and especially the possibility of swimming with dolphins. However, my fiancé has a rather large phobia about sharks. Do you know what the shark population is like is South Australia, and what I might tell her to try and convince her that a water excursion would be fun and safe?
