Honeymoon Haven: The Cove Atlantis

Sunday September 21, 2008
Caribbean vacationers have long been drawn to Atlantis Resort, a water wonderland in the Bahamas. Recent additions, including the extraordinary Aquaventure and Dolphin Lagoon, increased the need for a hotel within the hotel where honeymoon couples and other romantics could frolic as freely as aquatic creatures.

The answer: The Cove Atlantis, a tower for sophisticates featuring large guest rooms with extraordinary views, fine restaurants, a spa, and a hip, low-key atmosphere that caters to adults.

Just got back from our honeymoon yesterday…staff was rude and not very accomodating, had no power for 2.5 hours one morning, with no call or warning from staff. We got evacuated to the coral towers (smelled like mold, and has rusty/brown water) because generators were not built correctly for hurricane/tropical storm weather. Strange, because they get a lot of troublesome weather every year. Had to find out about evacuation from other guests, because we did not get a call in our room from The Cove staff. Once we got to the coral towers we requested a room with a king sized bed, and we got placed in a room with two double beds (not conducive to honeymooners). The next morning we went down and had to get another room, we were sent to 3 different rooms in another tower, the first two were not acceptable (they had not been cleaned from the previous guests). Finally, after requesting a manager we were placed in a smelly room with rusty water, but with a king sized bed. We ended up staying at the Royal Towers for 3 nights, and had to fight with the staff of the cove for a refund of our money. The food at the cove was delicious, and priced accordingly, however 15% gratuity is automatically added to all purchases, and most of the time was not earned. The service was awful, and not one person was able to offer a smile or any help. We went to ask guest services a question one night about the drink specials at cain on Friday night, they did not get an answer, and refused to walk over there to find out for us. The Cove is most certainly NOT worth the money, time, or energy. I have traveled to over 7 countries, and have never experienced such awful service and care. This was my husband and my first trip to Atlantis, and I can assure you we will NEVER! go back!
