Flying Update: The Good, the Bad, and the Nauseating
Lots of activity in the skies this month to interest couples planning a vacation that involves flying:
-
The Good: Thanks to the
open-skies pact, which takes effect on March 30, more airlines will be permitted to fly between the U.S. and Europe. With greater competition, there's a good chance fares will drop.
The Bad: New York State sued to penalize airlines who failed to provide passengers with water, fresh air, power, and working bathrooms when stuck on a plane for three or more hours. The verdict: Thumbs down from the U.S. Court of Appeals, which favored arguments presented by an airline industry group.
The Nauseating: Green-tinged roast beef served on a US Airways flight from Las Vegas to JFK. Don't assume business class passengers dine any better; this was inside the dinner sandwich served in business class.
