TomKat's Destination Wedding

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' November 18 destination wedding at Italy's 15th-century Odescalchi castle took place as scheduled, according to People magazine. The couple and their baby were all dressed by Giorgio Armani, and Andrea Bocelli serenaded with "Ave Maria."

Like many European countries, Italy has specific civil marriage requirements that must be satisfied for the marriage to be legal. In addition, couples who want a Roman Catholic ceremony performed must satisfy Catholic wedding requirements. Katie was brought up Catholic, but since Tom has been twice divorced, he cannot be married in a Catholic church.

Their solution: a symbolic wedding. Tom's rep explained to the magazine: "As is customary for couples marrying outside of the United States, Cruise and Holmes officialized their marriage in Los Angeles prior to their departure for Italy."
